Can TB Patients Go on Leave?

TB patients, particularly those with workplace DOT treatment, should be encouraged not to take annual leave during the intensive phase of treatment. Prior to going on leave the patient should be re-counselled on the importance of continuing treatment while on leave. The patient should be supplied with adequate treatment for days away and be encouraged to use an alternative treatment supporter while on leave. Employees with TB going on extended leave should be transferred to their nearest clinic.
